The Friends of Murphy Library are holding a Quilting Fabric Sale full of beautiful colors and designs this Thursday, September 3 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the library’s meeting room.  Other craft supplies will be available as well as very crafty and how-to artsy books!

Did you hear about the boxes of fabrics quilter Sandra Rowland donated to the Craft Supplies Sale in July? We sold yards and yards of these fabrics, but have more to sell this Thursday. You don’t have to be a quilter either. Perhaps you want to cover some pillows with a pretty pattern or make a little table cloth that has words on it in Italian! If you look at these fabrics you will find something you love. Call 837-2417 for details.

What is black and white and red, pink, blue, turquoise and fuchsia all over? Cousins Vivian and Chloe McNabb can tell you – it’s the Arts & Crafts and Craft Supplies Sale this Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Murphy Library! There will also be a Book Sale and Home Repair Sale in the back breezeway.

During a visit to “Storytime” at the Murphy Library, 5-year-old Vivian, daughter of Becca and Lawrence McNabb and 4-year-old Chloe daughter of Paige and Evan McNabb visited the library’s back room full of colorful fabrics, paints, glass stains, stamping and scrapbook items, yarn and lots more.

Local crafts people Renate Craig, Sammie Simpson, Sharon Francis, Vivian Schell, Jan Ruiz, Jo-Anne Allen, Bobbie Allen, Margie King and Lois Lenz will sell their finished crafts and supplies during the three-day sale. And the Friends will sell loads of beautiful donated craft supplies.

Demos will be given on Friday and Saturday covering scrapbooks, memory books for photos, box making, border cutting, hand-quilting, stamping, and maintaining a sewing machine. Sammie Simpson will also offer the sewing machine demo on Thursday.

11:00 a.m. Sammie Simpson teaches “The Care and Feeding of Vintage Sewing Machines,”

12:00 Sharon Francis demos the Gift Box Punch Board. Make 15 different size boxes with self-closures using only a square sheet of paper. No gluing or cutting needed.

12:30 Ronney Craig demonstrates the Creative Memories border maker and its versatility for scrap booking and card making. There are many different cartridges for different borders. A quick and easy tool for lots of variety!

1:00 p.m. Sharon Francis demos Project Life by Stampin’ Up, a memory keeping book taking only minutes to assemble. Pre-printed, cut to size cards in two sizes with various page layouts can be ready when photos arrive. No more shoe boxes of pictures with this easy, fun way to share your memories.

2:00 p.m. Sharon Francis demos Paper Pumpkin, a 30-minute paper crafting kit in a box that includes everything you need to make cute simple projects. Each month this cute orange box shows up in your mail.

Friends of Murphy Library are holding their popular annual Arts & Crafts & Craft Supplies Sale this Thursday and Friday, June 19 and 20, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will also be a Books in the Breezeway Sale in the back of the library.

Friends and local crafters are raising funds for prizes in the Cherokee County Middle Schools Spelling Bee, co-sponsored by The Cherokee Scout’s Newspaper in Education Program.

Crafters include Sammie Simpson, Jo-Ann Allen, Sharon Francis, Renata Craig, Margie King, Vivian Schell, Jan Ruiz, and Hollie Criswell.

Finished crafts are for sale along with quilt tops, sewing machines, fabric, beautiful yarns, flowers, baskets, jewelry items, and paper-crafting materials. Look around, you will find something fun! Call 837-2417 for more information, or better yet, just stop by.

If you are an artist, craftsperson, book lover, collector, or just looking for a good time, don’t miss Friends of Murphy Library’s popular Crafts and Craft Supplies and Books in the Breezeway Sales on Thursday and Friday, August 2 and 3, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the library.

The Crafts and Craft Supplies Sale raises money for prizes in the Cherokee County Schools annual Spelling Bee.  The Bee is co-sponsored by The Cherokee Scout’s Newspaper in Education and Friends of Murphy Library.

 Crafters and artists sell their excess supplies, finished crafts and make a donation to the Bee fund.  They love to talk about their work. Sammie Simpson, Jo-Ann Allen, Sharon Francis, Kathy Hoyt and Leslie Beaster will have tables full of quilts, quilting fabrics, yarn, scrapbook items, sewing items and lots more.  The Friends sell donated items including a whittling set, tie-dye paints with t-shirts, fabrics, and frames.  Moreover, Friends members like Louise MacDonald are there to lend advice to novice crafters.

Are your bookshelves empty?  The Murphy Library’s Books in the Breezeway shelves have been reorganized making it easy to find your favorite authors, fiction and nonfiction, and lots of books on tape.  And when you buy books on tape, they leave your hands free for, what else, your favorite craft. Friends of Murphy Public Library are holding our annual Craft and Craft Supplies Sale on August 2 and 3, Thursday and Friday, from 9 to 2 in the library’s meeting room, as well as a blowout Books in the Breezeway Sale in the back of the library. This year we�have added crafts along with the supplies for sale. You might find holiday gifts ahead of time.

Local crafters sell their own items and donate a portion of their proceeds to the Friends’ Spelling Bee fund. Monies raised reward students in the Cherokee County Schools 6th, 7th, and 8th Grade Spelling Bee. The students love the spelling bee and we love to see them learn.

Friends of Murphy Library are offering a triple sale Friday and Saturday, July 10 & 11, from 10 a.m. until closing. Craft supplies, books and yard sale items are all in abundance. Read the rest of this entry »
