About Friends of Murphy Library

Friends of Murphy Library is a nonprofit group located in the friendly town of Murphy in the mountains of Western North Carolina.  We raise funds for this small town library and promote activities such as a book club, writers’ group, weekly movies, annual auction, yard sales and book sales.

We also sponsor the Cherokee County School Spelling Bee.  We raise funds for prizes with an annual craft supplies and craft sale.  Each participating student receives a presidential dollar coin and the winners receive trophies and ribbons.  We think Cherokee County has some of the smartest students in all of North Carolina!

The MurphyPublic Library is the heart of this beautiful town of 1600 people in the Southern Highlands and is one of the busiest libraries in the area.  If you haven’t been to Murphy, it’s worth a visit.

Want to join the Friends?  The cost is $10 a year.  Call 828-837-2417 for details.
