From Denmark to Kenya in library film

Posted on: March 10, 2018

Karen Blixen grew up in Denmark and spent her early years traveling and studying throughout Europe.   However, when she married, her husband’s parents gave the couple a coffee plantation in Africa, and she discovered a world full of the beauty and adventures she craved. Years later she would write a book about her life in Kenya.

This Thursday at 6 p.m. the Murphy Library is showing Out of Africa, the film that won seven Academy Awards and is based on the memoir by Karen Blixen of life in Africa. The film is rated PG and running time is 161 minutes. John Barry’s award-wining score, along with Meryl Streep and Robert Redford, makes the time go fast.
