Posted on: July 3, 2017

The Murphy Library is showing With a Song in my Heart, a classic musical this week full of songs like Get Happy by Harold Arlen, Blue Moon by Rodgers and Hart, Embraceable You from George and Ira Gershwin, and I’ll Walk Alone by Jules Styne and Sammy Cahn.   Finally, there is an American medley of songs you will love.

The library is showing this true story Thursday at 6 p.m. Starring are Susan Hayward, Rory Calhoun, David Wayne, and a young Robert Wagner. The film is not rated but would be appropriate for high school and older. Running time is 117 minutes.

During World War II a young singer named Jane Froman begins her career on the radio. Soon the USO needs her to entertain the troops in Europe. On the way, her plane crashes in Spain. She survives but her legs are badly hurt and her career seems in jeopardy.
