Library film this Thursday is a very tall tale

Posted on: March 26, 2017

Some days you don’t know whom you’re going to meet. That was the way it was with a ten-year-old orphan named Sophie when she met a giant twenty-four feet tall.

The Murphy Library is showing The BFG, a Stephen Spielberg film based on a story by children’s writer, Roald Dahl, this Thursday, March 30 at 6:00 p.m. Running time is 117 minutes and the film is rated PG.

The giant becomes Sophie’s friend and protector. She understands he is not like the cruel caretaker at the orphanage where she had lived. He is kind and gentle and she is safe with him. He is also not like other giants who eat children! He wants to stop that and so does she. Soon they come up with a plan that involves the Queen of England.

Call the library at 837-2417.
