Posted on: September 19, 2016

During World War I the fight against colonialism rages in the Middle East and the Ottoman Empire.   A young Bedouin boy name Theeb finds himself alone in the desert with a wounded man who could easily kill him.

The Murphy Library is showing Theeb, Film Movement’s version of a “Bedouin Western,” this Thursday at 6:00 p.m,. This film from Jordan includes award-winning acting, cinematography, screenplay, and music.   Running time is 100 minutes. In Arabic with subtitles in English. It is not rated but there is violence and it would only be suitable for high school with parental guidance.

First-time director, Naji Abu Nowar, agrees that this is the Bedouin version of a John Ford “Western.”   And to describe the essence of his film, he asks, “What would happen if you were stranded with your worst enemy but need their help to stay alive?”

Call the library at 837-2417 for details.
