Cartoons meet the classics at library

Posted on: April 2, 2016

Want an easy way to hear classical music? Try Disney’s Fantasia 2000,the next Murphy Library movie where you can sing “da da da dum!” You will be watching a battle in the skies between light and dark with Beethoven’s 5th Symphony playing along.

The library is showing this reinvention of Walt Disney’s 1940 movie, Fantasia,  that mixed animated cartoons with classical music. This time Walt’s son Roy created six new stories including one about New York City with Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue. But not to worry, Mickey Mouse is still the Sorcerer’s Apprentice. Steve Martin and friends do the introductions. The film is rated G and running time is 74 minutes.

Since the time change has lengthened the days, the Murphy Library will be screening films Thursdays at 6:00 p.m. only for the summer.

Call the library at 837-2417.
