Next up: a coming-of-age film that shines!

Posted on: February 8, 2016

Starting high school can bring trauma to students, just like it does to Charlie. He is smart, however his mental problems have thrown him a curve. On the first day of his freshman year he wonders how he will get through the next 1,385 days until he graduates.

This Thursday, February 11, at 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. the Murphy Public Library is showing, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, the 2012 award-winning coming of age film that shines as it takes on mental illness, depression, first love and lots more. The film is rated PG-13 and running time is 102 minutes. Logan Lerman, Emma Watson, and Ezra Miller star along with the perfect mix of music and a tunnel ride not to be missed.

Charlie is recovering from the loss of his best friend who committed suicide the year before and his return to school is not going that well. He has other memories that haunt him. Then he meets Patrick and his stepsister Sam, two irrepressible seniors who love music, dancing and laughing a lot. What does Charlie do? He starts to smile and then to dance.
