A washed-up superhero actor wants to reinvent himself on Broadway in a play he has chosen himself.   However family troubles and his own inner turmoil don’t make it easy, let alone the egos of his fellow actors.

The Murphy Library is showing Birdman: Or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance), the Oscar-winner for Best Film in 2014 starring Michael Keaton who won an Oscar for Best Actor and Edward Norton this Thursday, September 3 at 6 p.m. Running time is 119 minutes and the film is rated R.

Director Alejandro González Iñárritu won an Oscar for Best Director of this film along with his cinematographer, Emmanuel Lubezki who had enthralled filmgoers with his camera work in Gravity and Children of Men. When these two are involved a superhero can still fly.  Call the library at 837-2417
