Charlotte’s Web, a tale of friendship, 6 p.m. this Thursday at the Murphy Library

A Maine farm offers a tale of friendship and lessons in loyalty that grownups will enjoy as much as children, especially the voiceovers of Dominic Scott Kay as Wilbur, Julia Roberts as Charlotte, Steve Buscemi as Templeton the Rat, John Cleese as Samuel the Sheep, Oprah Winfrey as Gussy the Goose, Cedric the Entertainer as Golly the Goose, Kathy Bates as Bitsy the Cow, Reba McEntire as Betsy the Cow. Robert Redford as Ike the Horse, Thomas Haden Church as Brooks the Crow ,André Benjamin as Elwyn the Crow, and Sam Shepard as the narrator.  Are you ready to watch it now?

The Murphy Library is showing Charlotte’s Web a 2006 film based on a story by E. B. White this Thursday at 6 p.m. Running time is 97 minutes and the film is rated G.

A little girl saves a baby pig, the runt of the litter, and names him Wilbur. Soon he gets big and is sent across the road to the barn with sheep, cows, geese and a horse. Best of all, a kindly spider there befriends him.
