Oscar-winning drama from Iran this Thursday, March 19 at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.

The next Murphy Library film reminds us that no matter what country, family life and ultimately family problems can ring true to anyone anywhere.

The library is showing A Separation, a drama from Iran that won the Oscar in 2012 for Best Foreign Language Film of the Year. The screening is this Thursday at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. Running time is 123 minutes. The film is rated PG-13, in Persian with subtitles in English.

Simin wants to move out of Iran with her husband and daughter to offer more opportunities for the young girl. Her husband Nader does not want to leave because his father needs him. He suffers from Alzheimer’s. Simin demands a divorce and makes plans to leave the country, but things do not go well.
