Film offers adventure, drama & laughs this Thursday, Nov. 6 at library

Posted on: November 1, 2014

A teen is wrongfully accused of theft and sent to a Texas detention camp where boys spend every day digging holes in a dried up lakebed “to build character.” One day he digs up a small treasure and wonders why it’s there.

The Murphy Library is showing Holes, a 2003 PG-rated film offering adventure, drama, laughs and some tears, based on a Newberry Medal-winning story by Louis Sachar. It is perfect for grown-ups as well as kids. Screening is Thursday at 6 p.m. and running time is 117 minutes.

Sigourney Weaver and Jon Voight headline the cast, but the real stars are the boys. They bully, pick fights, distrust each other, and then slowly become friends. When they show how much they care, your heart will feel it too.

Call the library at 837-2417.
