Library movie offers laughs, tears, and pies

Posted on: October 5, 2014

Do not come to the next Murphy Library movie if you don’t like sweets! Jenna, the main character works in a diner, and besides waiting on tables, she is the official pie baker. The Murphy Library is showing Waitress, a film filled with laughter and tears this Thursday at 6 p.m. It is rated PG-13 and running time is 108 minutes.

Jenna’s marriage is not good and she finds herself pregnant, and then there is the new doctor in town – not a recipe for a good outcome. Perhaps Old Joe, the elderly owner of the diner (played by North Carolina native, Andy Griffith, no less) will have some words of wisdom for her.

The pies in this movie inspire Friends of Murphy Library’s lunch and bake sale fundraiser coming on Thursday, October 16. Jenna loves to name her pies, and bakers donating to the bake sale can name their gifts after a favorite book, like Gone with the Wind Whoopie Pies?

Call the library at 837-2417 for details and to let us know what dessert you can donate! Thank you for all your support and enjoy the movie.
