Gravity will take you to the edge, this Thursday at 6 p.m. at Murphy Library

Posted on: June 7, 2014

Alfonso Cuaron has been one of my favorite directors ever since seeing his take on A Little Princess. It may have seemed to be a children’s film, but with Cuaron directing grown ups are sitting on the edge of their seats.

Now the Murphy Library is showing Gravity, Cuaron’s latest film this Thursday at 6 p.m. and again he pulls you not just onto the edge but over it, especially when watching on the library’s big screen!

Sandra Bullock plays Ryan Stone, a medical engineer on her first flight into space. George Clooney is Matt Kowalski, an experienced astronaut on his last flight before retiring. The audience, according to an interview with Cuaron, gets to feel like the third astronaut, watching the other two deal with surviving the destruction of their shuttle.

Hand-held cameras, long one-take shots and superb performances from Bullock and Clooney mean you are in for a wild ride. The film is rated PG-13 and running time is 91 minutes. Call 837-2417 for details.
