Grand Opening of Murphy Public Library’s new Cherokee Cultural and Language Center

Heritage Day is this Saturday, October 13 and all of downtown Murphy will have activities.

At 2 p.m. the Murphy Public Library will hold its grand opening of the Cherokee Cultural and Language Center and everyone is welcome!

Mayor Bill Hughes and Principal Chief Michell Hicks of the Eastern Band of the Cherokee Indians will speak, as well as Council member Barbara Vicknair, Friends’ Board members Elo-ly Bailey, Corey Bailey and Mike Moumousis, AND our wonderful librarian Jeff Murphy. Coconutz computer expert Nicki Grant will even demonstrate the computers.
