The Murphy Library is showing a timely comedy this Thursday even if it was made in 1996.   My Fellow Americans will be screened at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.  Running time is 101 minutes.

Two unfriendly ex-presidents (Jack Lemmon and James Garner) find themselves on the run together after being smeared by someone within the current administration.  Also stars Dan Akroyd, John Heard, Lauren Bacall, Sela Ward,  Bradley Whitford, Esther Rolle and Conchata Ferrell as  …a truck driver.

This film was made in Western North Carolina.  Watch for familiar road signs, even one to Murphy.  Also, if you know Murphy resident, George Ramsey, look for him in the crowd in the final scene.  He had a bit part in the film and we’re proud of him for getting it.
