Silent Auction, Cooking Supplies, Cookbook, Book Sale August 17-18 at Murphy Public Library

Get ready to open your pocketbooks! The Murphy Public Library Silent Auction and Cooking Supplies & Book Sale take place Friday and Saturday, August 17 and 18 at the library on 9 Blumental Street, Murphy, North Carolina 28906.

The Silent Auction runs  from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. when the bidding sheets are taken up and calculated.  The Cooking Supplies with wonderful cookbooks in addition to the kitchen items, and the Book Sale of fiction and nonfiction runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, August 17 and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 18. 


Each day different items will be featured in the Silent Auction and every donation to the auction has been exceptional.  Most recently local artist Mickey Altenderfer donated two portraits she painted of Native American men.  Mickey is a descendent of several notable Americans, among them, Penobscot Indians.

Here are some other items to browse through.  Don’t miss the imaginative candleholder made from a wooden branch.

Friends’ president Elo-ly Bailey and her husband Corey donated a cute kitty jigsaw puzzle with a matching bag. Notice the antique school desk and red carryon that are also in the Silent Auction.

Three special items at Murphy Library’s Silent Auction Aug 17 & 18: the red, black and white afgan by Kathy Bolyard, a pizza paddle by Tom Yorkovitch, and a long candlestick made from a tree branch by local craftsman Bill Hounsell.
