The little girl I saw at the symphony concert looked about five years old.  Her mother told me the girl’s violin teacher was playing in the orchestra and had invited them to see the performance.  Tchaikovsky was on the menu and the crowd roared their approval.

Here’s another way to give a kid a dose of the classics.  Let Mickey Mouse, dinosaurs, and dancing hippos light up the music.

The Murphy Library is showing Fantasia, the 1940 film that combines Walt Disney’s best animators and classical music Thursday at 3:15 p.m. and 6 p.m.  It has music by Tchaikovsky, Beethoven, Bach and more.  And don’t forget Paul Dukas’  ” The Sorcerer’s Apprentice.”  He helped Mickey Mouse cast a spell on a broom.  Or was it the other way around?
