North Carolina’s favorite baseball film “Bull Durham” at library Thursday

Posted on: March 28, 2011

Annie is a baseball groupie who gets on well, shall we say, with the boys of summer.  Nuke is a pitcher whose arm needs a little discipline.  And then there’s Crash.  He’s out to tame Nuke’s pitching, and maybe Annie too.

When a fifth Thursday appears in the month, the Murphy Library shows a “local” film.  This time it’s “Bull Durham.”   North Carolina provides the backdrop for this baseball story starring Kevin Costner, Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins.  The library will show it Thursday at 3:15 and 6 p.m.  The film is rated R and runs 108 minutes.

The film is fun and so is the tour of baseball venues.  Line drives are thrown in Asheville and balls are hit at baseball parks and stadiums in Burlington, Durham, Greensboro, and at Duke University.  Call 837-2417 for details.
