Romance, rap and Shakespeare in Thursday movie at 3:15 p.m. and 6 p.m.

Posted on: December 6, 2010

Raise your hands if you’ve ever had a teacher recite a Shakespeare sonnet with feeling.  Keep them raised if that rendition was done to a rap beat.  If not, you’re in luck.  The Murphy Library is showing 10 Things I Hate About You,  a high school romance movie based on “The Taming of the Shrew,” and…… one of the teachers raps out Shakespeare.  It’s pretty cool.

A popular girl is not allowed to date in high school unless her older sister first starts dating.  But who would want to go out with Kat?  She’s shrill, independent and doesn’t like normal stuff.  You’d have to pay a guy to do it.  And that’s exactly what someone does.  Heath Ledger and Julia Stiles star.

The screening is Thursday at 3:15 p.m. and again at 6 p.m.  Since it gets darker earlier in winter, the library is adding a 3:15 p.m. screening whenever the Thursday schedule allows.  Call 837-2417.
