Murphy Library auction a huge success!

Posted on: August 8, 2010

The sixth annual Friends of Murphy Library auction at Bob Grove Auctions last Saturday was a huge success thanks to Bob and Judy Grove.

Judy Grove wishes her husband Bob good luck when he lowers his gavel for the sixth annual Friends of Murphy Library Auction. The Groves have generously opened their auction house, Bob Grove Auctions, for all six years.

The Murphy librarians, the Friends’ board, and all who volunteered spent long hours preparing for this auction, and always with good humor.  Special gratitude is owed to the multitudes who were so generous in bidding at the auction.

Many thanks to Sonia Roberts for the photographs.

We raised over $9,000 that will be used for the kids’ and juvenile nonfiction area.

We appreciate the stores, services and business people who donated items and gift certificates for the auctions.  The economy is difficult now, and yet our local businesses show their affection for the library and moreover, their willingness to help our goal this year:  new books for young readers.

A giant list of the 2010 auction donors will be posted at the library for every patron and visitor to see how much our community cares about the future of our children.

Friends president Elo-ly Bailey and her husband Corey talk to one of the auction attendees.
