“Antz” features of cast of millions at library

Posted on: September 28, 2009

“Z” is one in a million. Actually, since he’s part of an ant colony, he’s one in five million. However that tiny fact doesn’t eliminate his neuroses. Even ants can use a few moments talking to their psychiatrist. Especially when the actor voicing these anxieties is Woody Allen.

The Murphy Library is showing “Antz” – an animated film about one tiny laborer in an anthill. The library will screen it Thursday at 3:15 p.m. and again at 6 p.m. Running time is 83 minutes and the film is rated PG.

“Z” is a worker ant – toiling down in the underground trenches of the anthill. Constantly having to deal with the larger and mightier soldier ants. But one day after work in the local pub, he meets a girl ant who reminds him that life could be better. Unfortunately she turns out to be the colony princess and is engaged to a ruthless general. But when has that ever stopped the path of true love?

Voices include those of Sharon Stone, Jennifer Lopez, Anne Bancroft, Jane Curtin, Danny Glover and Gene Hackman. Call 837-2417 for details.
