Great news for the Murphy Library’s auction bidders!  Especially if you love New Orleans cooking.  Panama City and Murphy residents Sue Ellen and Woody Woodward are offering dinner for 8 during Mardi Gras season with traditional food, music, and favors at your home.  No beverages provided but plenty of fun!
Sue Ellen has been Queen, and Woody, King, of one of the New Orleans’ Krewes. They know Mardi Gras.
 
The auction takes place August 8 at Bob Grove Auctions, 7540 Highway 64, Brasstown, NC 28902, between Murphy and Hayesville. Phone: 828-837-9200.  The Silent Auction starts at 5:30 p.m.; the Live Auction at 7 p.m.

Murphy Libary’s August 8 auction includes several fine pieces of furniture including a set of four dining chairs, a wonderful gold framed mirror, occasional tables and a tall display cupboard.

More good news from Friends’ pres, Nora King:
At Lakeside Plaza, Tantopia contributed expensive tanning lotion and the tanning salon, a certificate.  If your truck bed needs relining,Line-X gave two certificates.  J C Penney’s, an adorable scrub.   Salon 64, a certificate for products.  Express Yourself, a cute teddy bear whose tummy can be embroidered with a personalized design that they do.  Also, the Quiznos sandwich folks gave us a $10 certificate.
 
Downtown Do Hair Salon and Spa gave a certificate.   Stuff-tiques, owned by Betty and John Rhoat, gave a certificate.  Waffle House gave two mugs, each contains scratch off certificates for free food.  
Dave Peters contributed a bottle of his award winning blueberry wine.  It will be sold with a pair of glasses hand painted with blueberries, by Helen Sturgeon at Classic SwanVivian Schell, a member of Appalachian Craft Guild, gave a cute pair of child’s overalls.

The Silent Auction will begin at 5:30 p.m. and the Live Auction will start at 7. There is no charge and plenty of free refreshments.  Besides King Tut, there are antiques, local handcrafts including quilts and pottery, numerous Western North Carolina gift certificates , and a large group of African art and handcrafts including masks.

Lifetime KIA, despite the automotive industry economic troubles, was as generous with its donation as last year–ten oil changes!  Thank you so much!

Yes, that’s right, the perfect home is a condo if you are a purple martin.  As you can see Larry King has donated a beautiful addition to any backyard.  Larry is Friends’ president Nora King’s husband and an excellent craftsman.  Bob Grove will auction this bird condo off at the Murphy Public Library’s August 8 auction.  Grove Auctions is located at 7540 Highway 64, Brasstown, NC 28902.  Phone is 828-837-9200.  The Silent Auction begins at 5:30 p.m.  The Live Auction starts at 7.  Free refreshments will overflow the tables.
