Nora King has resigned as president of Friends of Murphy Public Library due to increased travel plans and time away from Murphy. But never fear – she has placed the gavel into the capable hands of Elo-ly Bailey. And Nora takes on the role of Chair of Fundraising. Retired she certainly is NOT.
Elo-ly has been working closely with Nora and often running meetings in Nora’s absence. She will do a great job as president.

Friends of Murphy Library welcomed auctioneer Bob Grove to their monthly meeting to review ideas for the next auction. They also presented him with an African drum to add to his collection. (Sorry, Judy, but we know Bob will play softly).
While Bob was in Murphy he also drummed up support for the coming season of the Brasstown Concert Association. This wonderful group brings nationally-recognized chamber groups to Brasstown. They play at the John C. Campbell Folk School and the experience is one to treasure.
Yes it is an exquisite reproduction of the ancient sarcophagus of King Tut. Local residents Faye and Bob Strang have given the Murphy Library this treasure for our August 8 auction at Bob Grove Auctions. The Silent Auction starts at 5:30 p.m.; the Live Auction at 7. There will be bountiful free refreshments. Grove Auctions is located in Clay County, North Carolina on Highway 64 East, two miles east of Murphy Medical Center.
