More auction items have been coming in, including this wonderful wood turned bowl by Steve Hembree:

Murphy Library patrons have been making Jeff Murphy smile. Donors have been bringing their arts and crafts by the library every day. And their work is quality.
Judy Grove brought two of her original bird photographs by as soon as the Aug 19-20 date was set:

Judy Grove has an eye for birds and a steady hand with her camera. Check out her two bird photographs at the auction.
Thank you, thank you, thank you to all Murphy Library patrons who have donated such wonderful items to the Silent Auction scheduled for August 19 and 20.
Do you have something special you want to include in our auction? Bring it by the library and make the librarians smile.

Do you have a special friend who would like these bowls that Jeff Murphy holds? And check out the Romanian glass candlesticks on the book case. Cut glass will fit any decor.
The Friends are holding a Silent Auction in the library’s meeting room and need donations. Crafts, an antique or a gift certificate. Think of what you’ve liked at previous auctions and donate the same for this one.
Here are some recent donations:

Mike Lalone, John C. Campbell Folk School potter, donated one of his signature vases for the auction.

A beautiful edition of Huckleberry Finn in perfect condition. Illustrations are by noted artist Thomas Hart Benton.
“Mike does such good work,” Murphy Librarian Jeff Murphy said as he looked at the vase John Campbell Folk School potter Mike Lalone recently donated to the library. Mike is one of many of our local artists and craftspeople who help the library in its fundraising efforts.
This year Friends of Murphy Library are holding a Silent Auction at the library on August 19 and 20. It follows the “Art, Antiques, and Uniques” theme that has propelled library auctions in years past. Craftspeople, collectors, and local businesses are encouraged to bring in a special object or gift certificate. Donations are urgently needed and gratefully accepted.

Jeff Murphy holds Mike Lalone's vase and a beautiful edition of Huckleberry Finn that will be part of the Friends' Silent Auction August 19 and 20.
But that’s not all. The Friends are combining a Cooking Supplies Sale with the Silent Auction. It’s like a yard sale for the kitchen. Everyone (including restaurants) is encouraged to clean out their cupboards and bring kitchenware to the library. From pots and pans to cookbooks and aprons — everything that brings a meal to the table is welcome for the sale.
See the empty bookshelves behind Jeff? We want to fill them with new books. Your help with our fundraisers can do this. Call 837-2417. Bring your items by the library any time during library hours. And — thank you!
